The University of Genoa (UNIGE), founded in 1933, is a teaching and research institution organized in 22 departments within 5 schools, 13 interuniversity research centres and 2 centres of excellence. The Department of Experimental Medicine (DIMES) was formed in 1998 and is divided into six sections: Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Human Physiology, Histology and General Pathology. The Department of Experimental Medicine carries out high-quality scientific research, contributing to the progress of Biomedical Sciences in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology and pathology, immunology and immunopathology, morphology, oncology, neuroscience and neuropharmacology. The main aims of the Department concern the carrying out of experimental research activities applied mainly in the field of Biomedicine. Moreover, some activity will be carried out also in the Department of Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties (DIMI) – a very complex reality in terms of scientific-disciplinary sectors and medical operative units has been addressed here where three inseparable institutional activities were combined: scientific research, didactic commitment and medical assistance.
UNIGE will be involved in a number of different workstreams in AutoCRAT and will lead the workstream on cell-free extracellular vesicle (EV)-based therapeutic development for modulation of OA.
